What is Jailbreaking on Apple Devices
iOS Jailbreaking which is also more commonly referred to as Jailbreaking – This is the act or process of removing the restrictions and barriers set the manufacture, this case Apple. This process removes the limitations imposed by Apple on any devices with the iOS operation system with the use of custom software. The devices include the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPod touch 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Generation, 2nd Generation Apple TV, iPad 1 and iPad 2.
Jailbreak allows iOS users to download applications, themes tweaks and file extensions that are simply not available with the official Apple App Store by giving them root access to the operating system (where custom changes can be made). Jailbreaking is necessary for users to run software that is authorized by Apple.
Different types and forms of Jailbreaking Apple devices
-Tethered
-Untethered
The Tethered Jailbreak requires the device to be connected to the computer each time it is restarted. Untethered Jailbreaks allow the device to boot up and down normally.
After much deliberation, Apple announced that the act or process of Jailbreaking was not illegal (what is done with the device after will determine that) though Jailbreaking will void your Apple warranty.
One of the most common reasons for Jailbreaking your Apple device is to expand on the features that have sadly been limited by Apply, extensions such as themes, tweaks and much more. Once the device is Jailbroken most users will install an application called Cydia, the software available in Cydia is not controlled or limited by Apple.
Installing software published outside the App Store has been noted to affect battery life and system stability, these are some of the issues or potential problems with Jailbreaking.
